Claudio Varone – Felt for architecture – Il cactus ovale 2

Pezzo unico della serie Felt for architecture by Claudio Varone Architetto e artista, dal 2000 lavora come Interior Designer ad Amsterdam.
Nato a Bari, porta con sé i sapori, gli odori e le forme del mediterraneo che traduce nella sua produzione artistica. Dopo il liceo artistico e la laurea in architettura allo IUAV di Venezia, il suo lavoro si indirizza verso la sperimentazione di forme e colori attraverso l’uso dei tessuti.
Dal 2003 la sua ricerca esplora la potenzialità del feltro avviando il progetto Felt for architecture. Dal 2006 ha iniziato la collaborazione con l’ artista olandese Anneke Copier. I due designer si propongono di combinare in un travolgente mix di arte, artigianato e architettura pezzi unici in feltro di lana a volte combinati con seta e fibre naturali dando vita ad una collezione di tappeti e arazzi. Trame tessili dal pattern naturalistico su cui ascoltare, intuire la vibrazione del vento, del suono del Mediterraneo, memoria e perenne passione dell’artista. Felt for architecture partecipa a numerose esposizioni in Olanda, Belgio, Israele, Cina, Irlanda, Gran Bretagna e Italia, facendo tappa nella galleria Misia Arte nel 2007 e nel 2011. Nel 2012, l’artista realizza per la sala d’ingresso del Senato olandese Finestre sui campi, tre grandi arazzi fatti a mano in giallo dorato che traducono il paesaggio agricolo olandese in un modello geometrico astratto.
Unique piece from the Felt for architecture series by Claudio Varone Architect and artist, he has been working as an interior designer in Amsterdam since 2000.
Born in Bari, he brings with him the flavors, smells and shapes of the Mediterranean, which he translates into his artistic production. After high school art and a degree in architecture at IUAV in Venice, his work is directed toward the experimentation of shapes and colors through the use of textiles.
Since 2003 his research has been exploring the potential of felt by starting the project Felt for architecture. Since 2006 he has been collaborating with Dutch artist Anneke Copier. The two designers aim to combine in an overwhelming mix of art, craft and architecture unique pieces in wool felt sometimes combined with silk and natural fibers resulting in a collection of rugs and tapestries. Textile textures with a naturalistic pattern on which to listen, to sense the vibration of the wind, the sound of the Mediterranean, memory and perennial passion of the artist. Felt for architecture participates in numerous exhibitions in the Netherlands, Belgium, Israel, China, Ireland, Great Britain and Italy, stopping at Misia Arte gallery in 2007 and 2011. In 2012, the artist made for the entrance hall of the Dutch Senate Windows on the Fields, three large handmade tapestries in golden yellow that translate the Dutch agricultural landscape into an abstract geometric pattern.
